Perfect Porridge at The Tubestation in Polzeath

Perfect Porridge at The Tubestation in Polzeath

Going out for breakfast is such a treat and when we were in Polzeath we found a fab spot to start our day right.

It’s always hard in a new place to know where to try as it’s always a bit of a gamble.

Thankfully we landed on our feet when we strolled into the Tubestation in Polzeath – it was a blinking marvellous find. And, as I later found out, it was voted Red Bull’s ‘number 1 best surf café’ in UK and Ireland.

Good Friday breakfast at The Winchester Orangery

Good Friday breakfast at The Winchester Orangery

The Winchester Orangery has recently opened and it’s as gorgeous as its Instagram indicated. Not only is it filled to the rafters with stunning material flowers but the black and white tiles, chic counters and glass topped tables will make you feel more like you’re on the King’s Road instead of the pretty lanes that frame Winchester Cathedral.

We started Good Friday right with a hearty breakfast, plenty of coffee and orange juice to set us up for a glorious four days free from work, commitments and poor weather!

Take a look around the newbie to Winchester’s foodie scene in a few of my snaps, I say a few…there’s ruddy loads. I couldn’t help myself it was so pretty and the staff were more than obliging – yes, I think I was indulged!

Bao buns at Two Doors Down in Southsea

Bao buns at Two Doors Down in Southsea

It’s safe to say I’m completely obsessed with bao buns. After having them at Wagamamas my obsession grew during my travels to Australia last year. I tried to eat as many as possible in China Town in Melbourne, in Sydney and Perth!

I haven’t found many places in the UK that do them yet, especially not in the south! Although I’m sure there’s loads of places that do them in London before you start @-ing me.

Anyway, you’ll imagine my surprise when Henry and I were walking through Southsea looking for somewhere to eat and stumbled on Two Doors Down. Continue reading “Bao buns at Two Doors Down in Southsea”

An evening of mindfulness with Wagamama at Gunwharf Quays

An evening of mindfulness with Wagamama at Gunwharf Quays

[AD] Recently I was invited for an evening of mindfulness and conversation to mark Wagamama’s partnership with mental health charity Mind at Gunwharf Quays in Portsmouth.

This was a gifted dinner but, all opinions are my own otherwise what’s the point?! You can’t buy my opinion and I firmly believe talking about mental health and that breaking the stigma surrounding it is very important!

How to make apple and blackberry gin

How to make apple and blackberry gin

Who doesn’t like the spirit of the moment? Thanks to restrictions lifted by the government we’re all enjoying a gin resurgence and the industry is booming.

We have a lovely collection of gin but a few ropey old bottles have remained in our alcohol cupboard for far longer than I care to admit.

I love making my own gin infusions and I shamelessly stole this idea from a friend who shared her recipe with me on Instagram. This is a great way to make a plain gin something special and worthwhile drinking. It also would make a great gift, two years ago I made earl grey gin which went down very well with all who received it.

Here’s how I made it, it’s really simple and will make you look like a domestic goddess, Nigella eat your heart out!
