Breakfast at Southsea Coffee

Breakfast at Southsea Coffee

Portsmouth is a treasure trove of great breakfast and brunch spots. I feel really spoilt to have all these awesome independents on my doorstep.

Southsea Coffee is no exception and a stellar cornerstone of the local food scene, it’s been thriving since 2013!

Plus it’s within walking distance of Southsea Common and the sea front. There’s nothing like a brisk stroll along the shore followed by food and coffee. That’s how you win at weekends!

Find out why this is one of my favourite places to go…

Dinner at The Old Forge in Otterbourne

Dinner at The Old Forge in Otterbourne

ad* Nestled in the leafy Hampshire village of Otterbourne is the beautiful country pub and restaurant The Old Forge.

It’s recently just opened after undergoing a major transformation and I fell in love with the dreamy velvet, rich tones and metallic finishing touches.

This in addition to the open fireplaces, exposed brickwork and low beamed ceilings make it the perfect winter hideaway!

The mix of traditional English pub and luxury interior is a winning combination and I am so into its cosy vibes. With the festive season kicking in, it’s good to have a few places like up your sleeve when you’re looking for places to visit with friends and family.

I was invited to take a look around and try the new menu, take a look…

The Chilworth Arms is a real winter warmer, the place you could easily while away a Sunday afternoon after a long walk in the countryside.

With the festivities upon us, the nights drawing in and temperatures dropping – the restaurant and pub is a welcome escape capturing a slice of that seasonal magic.

Recently I was invited to try its new festive menu, take a look at what I dishes I tried and a peek at the interior…

Brunch by the sea at Southsea Beach Cafe

Brunch by the sea at Southsea Beach Cafe

Is there anything better than a long, lazy brunch by the sea?

I’m all about the slow Sundays, catching up on my favourite reads and chatting with the best people.

One of my favourite places is Southsea Beach Cafe, it’s bang on the seafront in Portsmouth and its food is fantastic. This post is long overdue!

Take a look at one of my favourite spots in the south… Continue reading “Brunch by the sea at Southsea Beach Cafe”

Sushi at Nara in Southampton

Sushi at Nara in Southampton

こんにちは    Kon’nichiwa sushi lovers!

From nori and maki rolls to tempura and nigiri…I always am in the mood for sushi!

If you love sushi you’ve probably had the same problems I’ve had finding decent maki rolls outside of London.

Thankfully a fantastic food scene is growing in Bedford Place where Nara, a Japanese sushi restaurant, is based.

Fresh produce from Padstow Kitchen Garden

Fresh produce from Padstow Kitchen Garden

Fruit and vegetables straight from the field to plate. There’s something so appealing about that. Zero fly miles, self-sufficiency and food that’s really, truly fresh.

I found out about Padstow Kitchen Garden through Instagram, one of its images appeared when I was scrolling – what a great discovery that turned out to be! It supplies lots of great Cornish restaurants like Rick Stein’s, Jamie Oliver’s 15 and Paul Ainsworth at Number 6 restaurant.

On my latest trip to Cornwall I found it the best place to pick up some interesting veggies for dinner.

Headed to Padstow and are going to cook some of your own meals? Then you need to visit this place to pick up a few bits!

Enter the cabin and take a look at the incredible produce I bought (and scoffed) on my trip…

Doughnuts and coffee at Hideout Coffee Company in Portsmouth

Doughnuts and coffee at Hideout Coffee Company in Portsmouth

THIS. This is how you do doughnuts and coffee. Unique sweet treats, super strength caffeine and a beautiful aesthetic. Hideout Coffee Company has it all.

The doughnuts are out of this world. Go now and go early, they sell out so quickly so, do not go unprepared!

I visited after it had been open for six days, and it’s been selling out every single day. For a very good reason too, those doughnuts are AMAZING.

And yes, they are ‘The Finest Coffee Perverts’ in Portsmouth!

Brunch at Becketts in Southsea

Brunch at Becketts in Southsea

Becketts is the restaurant in Southsea that’s been recommended to me over and over again. It’s been a Portsmouth staple for the last 30 years but came under new management in 2016 and is thriving in the city’s vibrant food scene.

It has an excellent reputation and now I’ve finally managed to visit I totally understand the hype.
