AD | Whoop-whoop! It’s the sound of the BEEEEEFFFFFF!
This is most definitely a public service announcement for those of you looking for a place to eat in Portsmouth.
Hubbox has thrown open its doors at new digs at Gunwharf Quays bringing amazing Cornish produce and charm to my sunny corner of Hampshire.
It’s won accolade after accolade and been on my foodie hit list for a while.
I was chuffed when the kind folk at Hubbox invited* me to its newest restaurant to try those famous dirty fries out.
Take a look at the dishes I picked from the menu, which is filled with award-winning epic big eats. If you like American street food this one is going to be a piece of you…
THIS. This is how you do doughnuts and coffee. Unique sweet treats, super strength caffeine and a beautiful aesthetic. Hideout Coffee Company has it all.
The doughnuts are out of this world. Go now and go early, they sell out so quickly so, do not go unprepared!
I visited after it had been open for six days, and it’s been selling out every single day. For a very good reason too, those doughnuts are AMAZING.
And yes, they are ‘The Finest Coffee Perverts’ in Portsmouth!

Becketts is the restaurant in Southsea that’s been recommended to me over and over again. It’s been a Portsmouth staple for the last 30 years but came under new management in 2016 and is thriving in the city’s vibrant food scene.
It has an excellent reputation and now I’ve finally managed to visit I totally understand the hype.

It’s not often you can say the garment or bag you’re wearing is one you’ve hand made yourself.
Henry (the taller, more numerically inclined, better half) very sweetly booked me onto a course at The Makers Guild – a leather workshop which teaches you how to make a satchel.
It was an incredible experience, take a look at the journey from punching holes to stitching the bag together.

It’s safe to say I’m completely obsessed with bao buns. After having them at Wagamamas my obsession grew during my travels to Australia last year. I tried to eat as many as possible in China Town in Melbourne, in Sydney and Perth!
I haven’t found many places in the UK that do them yet, especially not in the south! Although I’m sure there’s loads of places that do them in London before you start @-ing me.
Anyway, you’ll imagine my surprise when Henry and I were walking through Southsea looking for somewhere to eat and stumbled on Two Doors Down. Continue reading “Bao buns at Two Doors Down in Southsea”
[AD] Recently I was invited for an evening of mindfulness and conversation to mark Wagamama’s partnership with mental health charity Mind at Gunwharf Quays in Portsmouth.
This was a gifted dinner but, all opinions are my own otherwise what’s the point?! You can’t buy my opinion and I firmly believe talking about mental health and that breaking the stigma surrounding it is very important!
