How to delete your Vero account

If like me you’ve signed up to the ‘new’ social media app Vero and no longer want to be a part of the app you will want to delete your account.

It’s not easy to disconnect from the app so I’ve made a how to guide with step by step instructions.

Wow, ok, I’ve had to change the previous post I’d written, Vero have changed where the ‘delete my account’ button is. In fact the whole process has changed in the week since I requested my account to be deleted. Thank god I checked the process before this post went live!

They’ve obviously streamlined their deletion process, let’s hope they’ve made it faster too!

The old way to delete accounts on Vero

Previously, you clicked on the question mark in your dashboard, then ‘Choose a department’ and then you’d go to a form that you’d have to fill out. This was then followed by email exchange with Vero’s customer adviser. I say an email exchange, it is me sending the emails and getting no reply!

So, here’s an updated guide on how to delete your Vero account.

Step One

Log in, go to your dashboard and click on ‘Settings’ cog in the bottom right hand corner.

Click on the cog!

Step Two

Click on your name.

Step Three

Click on ‘Delete your account’ at the bottom.

Step Four

Click yes.

Step Five

Press ok and then Vero logs you out of your account.

Logged out!

Step six – you might not need this step!

That might be the end of the process now but, I’m not entirely sure, based on my experience.

When I requested to delete my account Vero sent me an email saying that my request had been received and someone would reply – it was a standard automated response.

After 24 hours I had heard nothing, so I emailed Vero again asking them to delete my account.

After six days I finally got an email saying that my request had been received. But, my account still hadn’t been deleted.

That was this morning. In the afternoon I thought I’d finish this post before publishing it and that’s when I realised the process had changed in the past week.

I didn’t reply to this email but, for good measure, I requested my account to be deleted through the new process that I’ve provided a guide for above.

I’m hoping that Vero will finally delete my account. I’ll keep you posted!

Good luck if you try to delete your Vero account – let me know how you get on.

      • Ooo, excellent point. I wish I’d been more cautious about signing up. It’s taken me over six days to get them to acknowledge my request to delete my account. I do worry about my personal data. You have to put your phone number in to be able to sign up. The terms and conditions indicate that they own a lot of what you put up. It just worries me.

    • Ugh, I feel your pain. I’m so annoyed I didn’t read the terms and conditions properly when I signed up or take note of the frustrations being vented by other users on Twitter.

I think legally they have a duty to make deleting an account easy – any legal folk on here that can confirm this?
Facebook has this nailed this. It’s so easy to remove or suspend your Facebook account. They have got it so right. It’s your data and you should have control over it. It’s made me angry, frustrated and I’m never normally so negative.
