The first of many paddle boarding adventures to come
The crisp, cold autumn air was soon put in its place as I manned the paddle board pump with gusto. Ten minutes later, having brought my board to life, I was ready to go.
Over the weekend I picked up my new paddle board from the very helpful Tony at The SUP Company and despite the terrible forecast, I was keen to try it out.
The tranquil lake was beckoning, the clouds had moved on and the wind had died down, it was time to take my paddle board out for the very first time.
Stepping on to the board brought a surge of emotions, a mixture of nervousness, excitement and freedom. That and the thought that if I fall in, it’s going to be bloody cold. It also brought a sense of fulfilment thinking about my journey to this point and anticipation for what the future holds.
After getting hooked on the sport during my first experience in the Dominican Republic a year ago, to taking my ready to ride course more locally a few months ago, there I was actually out on my own board.
In my mind everything has come full circle. No longer was I dreaming about going paddle boarding, I was out there on the water doing it. It was all a bit surreal, but brought an awful lot of happiness to a freezing cold rainy Sunday afternoon and life in general. For me this little trip to test the new board out signified the start of future adventures, wanderlust and the freedom to go exploring.
Discovering passions in your life, things you love to do and actually being able to do them is one of the best feelings in the world. I don’t think we forget this, I just think that the responsibilities of everyday life can often get in the way. So, when we do things that we want to do, that bring us more in line with the person we want to be, it can bring a lot of happiness.
So here are a few pictures of my first jaunt…
Balance is the key to most things in life, so while this blog is predominently public relations I do like to throw some other things in to the mix to shake things up and show you a bit about my life!
