Southampton Solent University students have decided to curate their own public relations textbook and they are looking for contributions from PR professionals.

PR professional’s can find out how to get involved at digitalprbook.com, which gives a full break down of the project and the topics that require writing. Chapters will including digital PR strategy, how to write for digital PR, search engine optimisation (SEO), and tips for better digital PR.

The motivation to create the book came from frustrations at the lack of any recent and relevant PR textbooks. It will focus on explaining the basics of digital PR and aims to be a useful resource for both practitioners and students.

Feedback will also be an important part of the book, with the website giving readers the opportunity to directly share their thoughts and advice with the students.

“It’s great to see the students take such a proactive approach to learning about PR,” commented Mike Maynard, associate lecturer at Solent University.

“Even the process of building the site and promoting the project has been tremendously beneficial as they have had the opportunity to work on a real project during the course.”

PR practitioners who would like to help with the project can visit the Digital PR Book website and submit a form to express their interest.
